Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

Welcome to Family Camp
Michelle and I are excited to be serving you now as the new Deans of Family Camp. Don’t worry, Michelle will still be playing the piano. We’ve debated for some time how we wanted to introduce ourselves and the theme for family camp this year, and what we decided is that we should just be honest. The truth is that this year we are very excited to be at family camp, but last year, we were not. For the first time in my life, last year, I did not want to be at family camp. I, we, didn’t want to be anywhere. Almost 6 weeks before family camp last year we lost our baby that was born still at 36 weeks. When camp rolled around, we were very much still dealing with the grief and loss and wanting to be in God’s presence but being very angry with Him all at the same time. I am sure some of you can relate to that
exact same feeling. But I am sharing that very hard part of our life not to gain any recognition or sympathy from all of you but to share how amid all of that we were pointed back to God. God remains steadfast! He does not change, and He never will, regardless of our circumstances and our feelings. God remains on His throne! He has called us to that same steadfastness. 1 Corinthians 15:58 says, “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” When we remain steadfast and immovable in the midst of what God has called us to do then our labor is not in vain. If God has called you to a hard time, or if God has called you to a time of rejoicing in this season, I encourage you to join us this year at Family Camp as we explore the idea of what it means to be STEADFAST!

He grew up attending Bay Shore Camp, spent 12 years serving as a youth pastor, and now works as a missionary in the marketplace proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ to anyone who will listen. Jesse loves God and loves people (particularly youth). He and his wife, Jenn, have 5 kids: Josiah, Abby, Levi, Benjamin, and Naomi, and reside in the Chicago area.
Don Mecomber - "IMPACT" Youth Evangelist

He and his wife Amanda moved to Unionville in the fall of 2023 with their 5 children to plant Crossroads Christian Church, of which he is currently serving as the lead minister, working with local students and families in the Unionville-Sebewaing Area. Bay Shore has been a large part of his life for as long as he can remember (attending for the past 26 years). Being a part of the Impact team and sharing the love and truth of Jesus with students at Family Camp makes this week the most special and anticipated week of the year!
